چکیده

A hotspot of a moving entity is a region in which it spends a significant amount of time. Given the location of a moving object through a certain time interval, i.e. its trajectory, our goal is to find its hotspots. We consider axis-parallel square hotspots of fixed side length, which contain the longest contiguous portion of the trajectory. Gudmundsson, van Kreveld, and Staals (2013) presented an algorithm to find a hotspot of a trajectory in O(n log n), in which n is the number of vertices of the trajectory. We present an algorithm for answering timewindowed hotspot queries, to find a hotspot in any given time interval. The algorithm has an approximation factor of 1/2 and answers each query with the time complexity O(log n). The time complexity of the preprocessing step of the algorithm is O(n). When the query contains the whole trajectory, it implies an O(n) algorithm for finding approximate contiguous hotspots.

Windows into Geometric Events: Data Structures for Time-Windowed Querying of Temporal Point Sets

We study geometric data structures for sets of point-based temporal events, answering time-windowed queries, i.e., given a contiguous time interval we answer common geometric queries about the point events with time stamps in this interval. The geometric queries we consider include queries based on the skyline, convex hull, and proximity relations of the point set. We provide space efficient da...

On Indexing Sliding Windows over Online Data Streams

We consider indexing sliding windows in main memory over on-line data streams. Our proposed data structures and query semantics are based on a division of the sliding window into sub-windows. By classifying windowed operators according to their method of execution, we motivate the need for two types of windowed indices: those which provide a list of attribute values and their counts for answeri...

Maintaining consistent results of continuous queries under diverse window specifications

Continuous queries applied over nonterminating data streams usually specify windows in order to obtain an evolving –yet restricted– set of tuples and thus provide timely and incremental results. Although sliding windows get frequently employed in many user requests, additional types like partitioned or landmark windows are also available in stream processing engines. In this paper, we set out t...

A data warehouse is a source for storing historical data to support decision making. Usually analytic queries take much time. To solve response time problem it should be materialized some views to answer all queries in minimum response time. There are many solutions for view selection problems. The most appropriate solution for view selection is materializing frequent queries. Previously posed ...

Improvement of the Analytical Queries Response Time in Real-Time Data Warehouse using Materialized Views Concatenation

A real-time data warehouse is a collection of recent and hierarchical data that is used for managers’ decision-making by creating online analytical queries. The volume of data collected from data sources and entered into the real-time data warehouse is constantly increasing. Moreover, as the volume of input data to the real time data warehouse increases, the interference between online loading ...
